Einfluß der Gerontopsychiatrischen Tagesklinik auf die seelische Gesundheit ihrer Patienten

The Influence of the Gerontopsychiatric Day-Clinic on the Mental Health of Its Patients

Abstract

Zusammenfassung: Das Konzept der Tagesklinik findet zunehmend Verbreitung in bundesdeutschen Gerontopsychiatrien. Studien über die Qualität der Behandlung in Altentageskliniken liegen jedoch bisher nicht vor. Als Parameter sind für derartige Studien auf der Ebene der Ergebnisqualität die psychopathologische Symptomatik, der funktionelle Status, die soziale Situation und vor allem die Lebensqualität relevant. Die Qualitätsmessung sollte longitudinal erfolgen und auch Behandlungseffekte nach Beendigung der teilstationären Therapie erfassen können. An der Datenerhebung sollten alle an der Versorgung beteiligten Berufsgruppen, Patienten und Angehörige beteiligt werden. Unter diesen Gesichtspunkten wurde am Zentralinstitut für Seelische Gesundheit in Mannheim ein Erhebungsprotokoll entwickelt, mit dem in einer naturalistischen Studie die Ergebnisqualität der Behandlung in unserer Altentagesklinik untersucht wird.


Summary: The concept of psychiatric day hospitals for the elderly is becoming increasingly popular in Germany. However, studies on the quality of treatment in gerontopsychiatric day hospitals are not available. Parameters suited for a quality assessment on the outcome level are psychopathologic symptomatology, functional level, social situation and, most important, quality of life. Outcome data collection should be performed longitudinally and also include follow-up assessments after discharge. Data should be obtained from all professional groups involved in patient care at the day hospital, from the patients themselves, and from their families. Considering these aspects, a protocol for the assessment of outcome quality was designed at the Central Institute of Mental Health in Mannheim. This protocol is applied in a naturalistic study in our day hospital for the elderly.
