Fairness oder Fouls
Abstract
Zusammenfassung: Die Bereitschaft, sich fair zu verhalten, scheint gerade in sportlichen Wettkampfsituationen von situativen Einflüssen und widersprüchlichen sozialen Erwartungen beeinflusst zu werden. Im Sinne der normative focus theory von Cialdini, Kallgren und Reno (1991) rückt die Orientierung an der Norm der Fairness unter situativen Gegebenheiten unter Umständen in den Hintergrund. Wie jugendliche Sportler mit Normkonflikten und Situationseinflüssen umgehen und welche Rolle hierbei Trainer/innen als Vorbilder spielen, wurde bislang kaum untersucht. In einer Fragebogenstudie mit 547 Fußballern (9-18 Jahre) zeigt sich die Bereitschaft zu foulen von situativen Bedingungen (z. B. Zuschauerdruck, Abstiegsdrohung) und wahrgenommenen Trainernormen beeinflusst. Den Trainern schreiben die Jugendlichen zu, dass sie Fouls weitgehend tolerieren. Bezogen auf Gemeinnützigkeitsansprüche der Sportvereine legen diese Befunde eine intensivere Debatte der Vorbildfunktion von Trainern nahe.
Abstract: With regard to the normative focus theory of Cialdini, Kallgren and Reno (1991) the norm of fair play may recede in the background in sports because of the influence of situational aspects and different social expectations. It has hardly been analysed how juvenile athletes deal with such norm conflicts and to which extend coaches play a part as models. The questionnaire-study with 547 soccer players shows that the willingness to foul is significantly influenced by situational aspects (e.g., spectator pressure) and social norms communicated by coaches. The youths declare that their coaches tolerate fouls in large. Regarding the sports clubs claim to serve the common public interest, these findings suggest a more intensive debate of the coaches' function as model.
