Abstract
Abstract. In a fourteen-day process study on the learning behavior of 33 nursing students preparing for an exam, the use of learning strategies as well as the investment of study time were found to be important predictors of subjective learning success. Furthermore, the use of learning strategies influenced mood. Learning-related motivational aspects, which were correlated with affect and daily hassles, predicted study time and the use of learning strategies. In addition, we found that different aspects of learning behavior and the learning situation underwent time-related changes: Extrinsic learning motivation increased. The effective study time as well as the total study time rose. With regard to learning strategies, memorizing behaviors increased whereas the structuring of relevant topics decreased. In sum, our results indicate the importance of repeated state measurements when one examines the interplay and time-related changes of those components underlying learning processes.
