Abstract
Arbeitsbezogene Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung, 3.
Abstract. Long-term work disability, delayed return to work, and early retirement due to work-related psychological difficulties cause problems in health economics. To date, a specific inventory that captures work-related return intention and planning after sickness absence from work has not been available. Drawing on established psychological constructs and empirical research, a specific work-directed self-rating Inventory on Job Coping and Return Intention (JoCoRi) was developed. It was tested in three independent samples of psychosomatic, cardiac, orthopedic, and neurological rehabilitation inpatients (N = 243, N = 337, N = 111). Confirmatory factor analyses confirmed a multidimensional structure. The final inventory consists of 30 items with seven subscales: (1) work-related return intention and planning; (2) work-related self-efficacy; (3) work-related self-instruction and self-calming; (4) work-related external locus of control; (5) active coping at work; (6) subjective importance of work; (7) control cognitions on returning to work. Factors explained 68 % of the variance. Cronbach’s α and corrected item–total correlation were satisfactory, and a validation with paralleled global constructs was performed. A longitudinal analysis (N = 111) of the work-related return intention and planning subscale shows that it predicts length of sick leave as well as work ability status.
