Abstract
Abstract. The effect of music on the evaluation of one’s own intrinsic motivation and on the experience of flow was the subject of this study. One group of horse riders executed their sport hearing music, whereas the control group rode without music. In total, 69 individuals were tested (experimental group n = 35; control group n = 34). Within both groups, for intrinsic motivation as well as for the experience of flow, highly significant differences were found, including strong effects. Compared with the control group, the experimental group’s intrinsic motivation was higher after the test than 1 week earlier.
