Abstract
Abstract. The paper presents a German version of the Conflict Resolution Styles Inventory (CRSI; Kurdek, 1994). The questionnaire uses 32 items to assess four dimensions of conflict resolution styles in couples (conflict engagement, positive problem solving, withdrawal, and compliance), each by self- and partner report. The factor structure and measurement invariance across sex as well as the measurement equivalence with the original CRSI were tested using confirmatory factor analysis. Results confirmed the postulated four-factor structure and indicated that the German CRSI exhibited high convergence with the original scale and comparable internal consistency. Convergent as well as discriminant validity was tested in relation to personality, measures of relationship satisfaction, and perceived stress. Results support the reliability and validity of the German CRSI.
