Phänomenologie schulischer Langeweile
Abstract
Abstract. The aim of the present study was to identify and categorize phenomenological aspects of boredom in a school setting. For this purpose, 50 9th grade students (50% female) were interviewed. Based on students’ statements, phenomenological categories were constructed which proved to be very heterogeneous and which suggested that there may be a number of different types of boredom. We differentiated four primary types of boredom which were classified based on the dimensions of activation and valence. Theoretical and practical implications of the study are discussed.
