FAQ - Frequently asked questions

  • Please click on the "Login | Register" button at the top of the screen. When you have completed the registration, a confirmation will be displayed in the browser window. In addition, you will receive an e-mail to your specified e-mail address, which contains an activation link. It is mandatory that you click the link within 48 hours to use it to verify your account. When the activation is complete, you can log in at the top of the screen with your email address and password.

  • Please refresh your email inbox and wait a few minutes to see if an email arrives. Also check your junk mail/spam folder. If no email arrives, you have two options:

    1. Go to the "Login | Register" button at the top right and enter your email address and the password you used when registering. After clicking on "Login | Register" you should be presented with a window to enter your email address. Please enter your e-mail address - the verification link will be sent again.
    2. Alternatively, you can also use the "Forgot password?" option in the Login-window and insert your e-mail address here. You will receive an email with a link to set a new password and can then log in with it.

    If you still have difficulties with the login, please contact [email protected].

  • Please click on the "Login | Register" button at the top right of the screen and then on "Forgot password?" below the password entry field. You will now be asked to enter the email address you registered with. You will then receive an e-mail with further information on how to set a new password.

  • You can very comfortably order subscriptions on our publisher's website via online form. Or you can send us an e-mail to [email protected] stating your full address and the title of the journal you wish to subscribe to.

  • If you do not have a user account yet, please register first via the "Login | Register" button at the top of the screen (see also "How can I create a user account?").

    Afterwards, please send us an e-mail to [email protected] stating your registered e-mail address, your full address, the title of the journal you have subscribed to and, if applicable, your customer number. You will find the customer number on your subscription invoice, for example. Our support team will then activate your online access.

  • No, anyone can use Hogrefe eContent to search, browse, and view open access and free access articles. However, you need a subscription to access the entire content of a journal.

  • Make sure you are using an up-to-date Internet browser (and Reader to open PDFs). If you are using Internet Explorer, please note that it is no longer supported for certain versions of Windows 10 and may therefore cause problems when using Hogrefe eContent. Please use an alternative internet browser. If you continue to have difficulties using Hogrefe eContent, encounter display problems or error messages, please contact [email protected] with the following details for fastest possible handling:

    1. Technical information: Operating system (with version number), Internet browser (with version number).
    2. Description of the problem: Let us know as precisely as possible what steps you have taken and at what point difficulties were encountered.
    3. If possible, send us screenshots of the occurring problem, as this is always very helpful for a quick analysis.
    4. If possible, send us all information from https://econtent.hogrefe.com/snoop .
  • If you have access to content, you can already read it in full in an HTML view. By clicking on the PDF download symbol above the abstract, you can download articles with access. The download of a complete PDF of an issue is possible via the download link, which is displayed above the table of contents of the issue.

    If you do not have access to content, access options are displayed to you. If you do not have access to content you have already purchased, please contact us. You will need a PDF viewer to open PDF files.

  • Log in with your email address and password and click on "Your name" at the top of the screen. Click on "My Account". Click on "Access entitlements" - there you will see all subscriptions or individual purchases to which you have access.

    All the content you have access to, either because of a subscription, a purchase or because the content is accessible via "Free" or "Open Access", will be marked with a green circle symbol.

    1. When you have found an article, click on the document icon "View Full Text" or the Download icon "PDF" above the abstract. You will now be directed to an "Access Denied" page where the purchase options will be displayed.
    2. You can either purchase the individual article or the entire issue. Please select the desired option and click on "Add to cart". You can now add more articles to your cart in this way or go to the shopping cart view via the Checkout button.
    3. Within the shopping cart, you will now be asked to register as returning user (if you already have an account) or as a new user (if you do not have an account yet) to complete the purchase process.
    4. Check or enter your billing address and click on "Continue".
    5. In the next step you can enter your VAT identification number, if available, to continue the calculation without VAT. You should only do this if you are acting as an entrepreneur based in an EU country outside Germany. You can now choose your payment option. We support payment by PayPal or credit card.
    6. Depending on your payment method, you will be redirected to the appropriate page. Click on "Place Order" to complete your purchase. Once your payment is complete, you will receive a confirmation on the next page with your purchase details and a transaction confirmation by email. You have permanent access to your item via your user account: In the "Access entitlements" menu, under the "My purchases" tab, you will see the link to the article, which you can now read online or download and save on your device.

In any case, you will find the purchased article in your user account under "Access entitlements" and the tab "My purchases".

  • Please log in with your email address and password. You can sign up for the alerting service from any journal page by clicking on the "New content alerts" button. You will then be taken to the "Alerts" menu in your account, where you can edit your settings and view or delete alerts.

    Also, you can sign up for article tracking from any article page by clicking on "Track citations" under Tools. You will then receive an email as soon as the article has been cited or a correction has been published.

  • On each search results page you will find the option "Save search" above the results. Here you can save the search in your account and be informed about new results. You also have the option of creating an RSS feed. You can manage and run your saved searches in your account under "My Account" and "Saved searches" when you are logged in. In addition, your saved searches are displayed under a corresponding tab under "Advanced search" of the site.

  • You can save individual articles as favorites. To do so, click on "Tools" above the article and then on "Add to favorites". You can find your marked favorites again at any time via your user account and manage them there.

  • Please first click on "Login | Register" at the top of the screen, then on "Institutional Login" below the registration area. Select from the list of regions, e.g. German Higher Education (DFN-AAI). You will then see a list of all institutions that offer access via Shibboleth. Click on your university and log in with your personal Shibboleth login.

  • Please first register a user account via the "Login | Register" button at the top right. Then write an email to our support team at [email protected] and ask for the activation of the administration rights for your institution.

  • Please log in with your admin account and click on "Your Name" > "My Account" at the top of the screen. Among the institutional account options, click on "Manage Administrators". Here you have the option to add or delete administrators. A confirmation email with an activation link will then be sent to the email address of the new administrator. The new administrator has all administration rights for his institution.

  • Please log in with your admin account and click on "Your Name" at the top of the screen. Here you will now see institution account options as well as your personal account options. You can manage IP addresses, additional administrators, banner texts and logos, and much more here.

  • Please note in advance that Atypon Literatum does not officially support EZproxy or similar services. URL rewriting practiced by these services may conflict with Atypon Literatum's control system. Nevertheless, institutions can set up Hogrefe eContent as a database for EZproxy access, if necessary.

    Please check the following circumstances for access difficulties:

    1. Is the EZproxy IP address in use correct?
    2. Do you have the latest EZproxy version installed?
    3. Are all links up to date and correctly stored in the configuration file?

  • Log in with your admin account and click on "Your name" at the top of the screen. Select "Usage reports" in the institute account options and download COUNTER5-statistics for the desired period. In case you are interested in receiving email notifications about the availability of new monthly statistics, you can set an email notification for yourself.

  • Please contact [email protected] to request a quote, indicating the title(s) of the journal(s) you are interested in and the size of your institution: FTE, beds, or RP.

    For academic institutions and schools, the number of Full Time Equivalents (FTE, students, faculty, research assistants); for public libraries, the number of registered users (entire institution, not individual departments). For hospitals, the calculation is based on the number of beds available (entire institution, not individual departments). For all other institutions (counseling centers, government agencies, companies, etc.), the price is based on the number of scientific or professional employees of the entire institution, e.g. psychologists, therapists, counselors, social workers, etc. (Relevant Professionals, RP).
