Exekutive Funktionen bei Jungen mit Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung
Abstract
Abstract: Recent studies reported inconsistent findings on child and adolescent Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) whether it is characterized by a generalized executive dysfunctioning or by deficits in selected executive functions. In this pilot study, executive functions among 20 boys of two age groups (8-10 years old and 11-12 years old) were compared to 20 normal controls matched on age and intelligence. Overall, boys with ADHD showed impairments in all executive functions, except in interference control. The interactional effect on cognitive flexibility indicated that only younger boys with ADHD showed higher perseveration than the younger healthy controls. These results support a generalized deficit in executive functioning among boys with ADHD.
