Förderung der sozialen und emotionalen Kompetenz bei krebskranken Kindern und Jugendlichen
Abstract
Zusammenfassung. Mit verbesserten Überlebensraten für die meisten Krebserkrankungen des Kindes- und Jugendalters erhalten Rehabilitationsmaßnahmen stetig mehr Aufmerksamkeit. Während die Mehrheit der Patienten Krankheit und Behandlung erstaunlich gut bewältigt, sind einige Kinder, insbesondere jene, die sichtbare und andere körperliche Langzeitkomplikationen aufweisen, einem erhöhten Risiko für Ablehnung durch Gleichaltrige, geringere Beliebtheit und unzureichende soziale Unterstützung ausgesetzt. Trainingsprogramme zur Förderung sozialer Fertigkeiten können hier die soziale Eingliederung erleichtern. Bisher liegen nur wenige Erkenntnisse zum Einsatz dieser Programme mit Krebspatienten vor. Diese Interventionen sollten in ein Rehabilitationskonzept eingebunden werden, welches zusätzlich weitere Maßnahmen der sozialen Integration vorsieht (z.B. Schulwiedereingliederungsprogramme). Methodische Probleme werden diskutiert.
Abstract. With increasing survival rates for most pediatric cancers, post-acute care services for survivors have received more attention. While most pediatric cancer survivors cope surprisingly well with the disease experience, some, especially those with visible and other physical sequelae, may be at risk for peer rejection, low popularity, and insufficient social support. Social skills training programs may help facilitate peer integration, although few have been systematically applied to children with cancer. Such programs should be made a core part of continuous rehabilitation plans, and may supplement other methods of promoting social integration, such as school reentry programs. Methodological problems in the assessment of social competence in pediatric cancer survivors are discussed.
