Leistungsstreß bei Jugendlichen
Abstract
Abstract. Achievement stress is frequently experienced by adolescents today as being one of the primary factors which endangers their psychological and physical well-being. A control-value model is outlined addressing individual as well as social antecendents of achievement-related stress (Pekrun, 1992, 2000). In addition to declarative, control- and value related appraisals of situational factors and personal resources, the model also emphasises the role of habitualised, automatic emotional processes. It is postulated that automatic responses may be central to the maintenance of stress reactions and their resistance against change in adolescents. Concerning social antecendents of both declarative and automatised stress processes, the role of parents as well as school-related factors is discussed. Cognitive and emotion-focussed methods of modifying such stress processes are outlined, and ways of preventing achievement stress in adolescence are presented.
