EEG - Feedback für Kinder mit einer Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit- und Hyperaktivitätsstörung (ADHS)
Erste Ergebnisse aus einer randomisierten, kontrollierten Pilotstudie
Abstract
Abstract. The rationale for EEG feedback for children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is based on the assumption of a dysregulation of the brain. Feedback of EEG frequencies, which is an established although not well acknowledged method, was compared with feedback of slow cortical potentials (SCP) in a single-blind design. This paradigm has been used for the first time. Results from 19 children who received SCP feedback are reported and compared with data from 8 children who were trained to inhibit theta and to increase beta waves. In both groups, follow-up evaluation 6 months after the end of training showed significant improvement in target behaviors as well as in intelligence scores, and less deficits in attention variables. On the other hand, the groups differed in the way they learned to self-regulate the EEG, assessed as hit rates. While the SCP group demonstrated continuously growing success throughout the course of training, the frequency group was more successful at the beginning of the training and did not show further improvement.
