Stent insertion achieves effective recanalisation of malignant stenoses in various locations of the gastrointestinal tract. This tutorial paper briefly reviews some of these methods. Special consideration is given to a number of practical points regarding patient follow-up by the general practitioner.

L'endoscopie interventionnelle en gastro-entérologie comprend de nombreuses méthodes utilisées pour la palliation de symptômes tumoraux. Les stents métalliques à auto-expansion ont la plus grande signification puisqu'il est possible grâce à eux d'obtenir une réouverture de sténoses tumorales en divers endroits du tractus gastro-intestinal. Ce travail de formation continue présente brièvement quelques-unes de ces méthodes.
