Abstract
Developmental problems of personality can be identified in childhood and youth. Childhood temperamental features are in concordance with personality dimensions of adults. There is a seamless transition from normal personality variants to clinically relevant disorders. Categorical diagnosis presents relatively low longitudinal stability. Development of personality disorders is a process of risks, with vulnerabilities and dysfunctional social interactions forming a vicious circle of mutual reinforcement. Developmental pathways of borderline personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder are exemplary being presented.
