Abstract
Abstract. Childhood anxiety disorders are very common and take a chronic course in a subgroup of these children. This article reviews cognitive-behavioral treatment procedures for the most important childhood anxiety disorders “separation anxiety” and “phobias”. Mechanisms and proceeding of the following methods are reported: systematic desensitisation, exposure, modelling, cognitive-behavioral programs. The most success promising treatment for childhood anxiety disorders seem to be exposure, where the children will be exposed to anxiety provoking situations. A detailed practical guideline of this procedere will be given.
