Abstract
Zusammenfassung. Der Beitrag berichtet und diskutiert die psychometrischen Eigenschaften eines neuen mehrdimensionalen Verfahrens (EWL-KJ) zur Messung des Befindens von Kindern. Das Verfahren besteht aus 40 Adjektiven, die 10 Subtests zugeordnet werden können. Drei Subtests sind dem Bereich Positives Befinden, sieben dem Bereich Negatives Befinden zuzuordnen. Die Ergebnisse basieren auf Untersuchungen mit 396 Schülern der 3. und 4. Klasse. Für die Bereiche Positives und Negatives Befinden ergaben sich hohe Reliabilitäten (Cronbachs Alpha, Split half). Für einzelne Subtests sind die Reliabilitäten relativ niedrig. Zur Abschätzung der Konstruktvalidität werden Mittelwerte, Standardabweichungen (getrennt nach Geschlecht und Alter), Interkorrelationsanalysen und Faktorenanalysen der Subtests präsentiert. Analysen auf Itemebene zeigen, dass die postulierten Merkmalsbereiche durch die Items mit guter konvergenter und diskriminanter Validität erfasst werden. Die Ergebnisse eines Feldexperimentes, das die Wirkung unterschiedlichen CO2-Gehalts der Raumluft auf das Befinden 10-jähriger (N = 22) untersuchte, belegen die Änderungssensitivität der EWL40-KJ. Nach den vorliegenden Ergebnissen können Kinder ab 9 Jahren, die Intensität und Qualität ihres Befindens anhand der Eigenschaftswörterliste (EWL-KJ) beschreiben.
Abstract. The paper reports and discusses psychometric properties of a new multidimensional adjective check list (EWL-KJ) for measuring mood in children. The EWL40-KJ consists of 40 adjectives, which refer to 3 subtests belonging to the area of positive mood and to 7 subtests belonging to the area of negative mood. The results are based on studies with a total of 396 children attending grade 3 and 4. With respect to reliability, the scores in the areas positive and negative mood have high reliabilities (Cronbachs Alpha, split-half). Overall the reliabilites of the 10 subtests are sufficiently good but for some subtests they are rather low. With respect to construct validity, descriptive results for the 10 subtests (means, standard deviations separated for sex and age), intercorrelations, and factor analyses are presented. Additionally, the results demonstrate that the items of the EWL-KJ are suited to measure the proposed areas with good convergent and discriminant validity. Results of a field experiment studying the effects of different CO2 concentrations on mood in 10-year-olds prove the sensitivity to measure change in mood. Altogether the results indicate that from age 9 on children are able to report the quality and intensity of their mood states by means of this new adjective list (EWL40-KJ).
