Abstract
Zusammenfassung.Theoretischer Hintergrund und Fragestellung: Der Begriff “Risikofaktor“ ist innerhalb der Klinischen Psychologie bislang nicht ausreichend und uneinheitlich definiert worden. Methode: Die vorliegende theoretische Übersichtsarbeit stellt eine Typologie zur Klassifikation verschiedener Arten von Risikofaktoren (variable Risikofaktoren, feste und variable Marker, kausale Faktoren) und Korrelaten vor. Die Typologie wird ergänzt durch bedeutsame konzeptuelle Merkmale von Risikofaktoren aus der epidemiologischen Forschung und der Entwicklungspsychopathologie. Methoden und Studiendesigns zur Identifikation der verschiedenen Typen von Risikofaktoren sowie Korrelaten werden zusammengefasst, diskutiert sowie anhand von Beispielen verdeutlicht. Schlussfolgerungen: Die Notwendigkeit eines systematischen Risikofaktorenansatzes i.S. einer Taxonomie von Risikofaktoren für die Klinische Psychologie wird betont. Konsequenzen für Forschung und Praxis werden aufgezeigt.
Abstract.Background and objective: The term “risk factor” has not been defined precisely and consistently enough in the field of clinical psychology. Method: The present review depicts a typology for the classification of different types of risk factors (variable risk factors, fixed and variable markers, causal factors) and correlates. The typology is supplemented with relevant conceptual issues on risk factors derived from clinical epidemiology and developmental psychopathology. Methods and designs for the identification of risk factors and correlates are summarized, discussed, and illustrated using examples. Conclusions: The need for a systematic taxonomic risk factor approach within clinical psychology is pointed out. Consequences for research and practice are outlined.
