Expression of Interest for the Position of Editor-in-Chief

    Published Online:https://doi.org/10.1027/0227-5910/a000949

The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) and Hogrefe Publishing are seeking expressions of interest in the post of Editor-in-Chief for the journal Crisis, to take effect during 2024, as the current Editor-in-Chief wishes to step down from the role after successfully leading the journal for 7 years.

Crisis is an international outlet for articles on suicidology and crisis intervention, publishing potentially life-saving information for all those involved in the field. In addition to research articles, Crisis publishes systematic reviews and registered reports as well as articles on practice and policy.

The Editor-in-Chief is supported by a team of associate editors and an international editorial board, enjoys full editorial independence, and will be responsible for the scientific content of the journal, which appears in six issues per annual volume.

Why is Crisis a Quality Journal?

    • Professional outlet for cutting-edge research in suicidology
    • Rigorous peer review and a dedicated editorial team
    • Electronic manuscript submission and peer review via Editorial Manager
    • Author-friendly and nonbureaucratic handling of submissions

    What Makes Crisis Special?

    • Various article types (Research Trends, Short Reports, Practice and Policy Insights, Systematic Reviews, Registered Reports)
    • Preregistration of Registered Reports using a two-tiered system
    • Low hurdle submission guidelines
    • Rapid quality checks of incoming submissions
    • Regular publication of gold open access papers
    • Range of publishing model options for authors: traditional publication with green open access and no embargo on posting author accepted manuscript; gold open access for a fair APC; and open access without an APC under transformative publish-and-read agreements with institutions in Germany, Switzerland, and the UK!

The initial term of office of the Editor-in-Chief will be 4 years, with the possibility of renewing for a further term. Candidates for the position of Editor-in-Chief should ideally have some prior experience in an editorial role with a peer-reviewed journal and a strong scientific record in suicide prevention research. They should be in a position to offer the significant commitment of time and expertise that such a position requires. Financial support for editorial assistance and other expenses is currently provided by the publisher.

Interested candidates are welcome to contact Robert Dimbleby, Publishing Manager at Hogrefe Publishing (), or Wendy Orchard, Executive Director at IASP, to arrange an informal discussion about the journal and the role.

Expressions of interest should be sent by email, together with a brief CV or description of relevant qualifications and editorial experience, to:
