Psychometrische Überprüfung einer deutschsprachigen Fassung des Body Checking Questionnaire (BCQ)
Abstract
Abstract. Background: Body checking is the behavioral manifestation of a negative body image. Objective: The psychometric properties of the German version of the „Body Checking Questionnaire” (BCQ) will be analyzed. Method: 124 females with and 202 without eating disorders and 64 males answered the BCQ and several other questionnaires on eating and body image disturbances. Results: Factor analyses indicate a one-factor solution. The BCQ proved to have a high internal consistency and test-retestreliability and could differentiate well between females with and without eating disorders as well as between the two sexes. High correlation coefficients of the BCQ with further instruments indicate a good convergent validity. Additionally, the BCQ demonstrates a sufficient sensitivity for change. Conclusions: The BCQ is a reliable and valid instrument which is recommended for use in research and practice.
