Abstract
Abstract. Pansori is a traditional form of epic chant in Korea expressing all kinds of emotions, life experiences, and highly nuanced Korean identity. On the basis of this UNESCO cultural heritage, the young Korean music therapist Hyunju Kim developed a method of biographical recitation for psychiatric purposes. The case study of a female patient with depression highlights typical Pansori features of interactive drumming and chant. Therapeutic mechanisms are analyzed and on the basis of comparative considerations possibilities of cross-cultural clinical application are discussed.
