Phonologisches Arbeitsgedächtnis, Wortschatz und morpho-syntaktische Sprachleistungen im Vorschulalter
Abstract
Summary: In a study with 101 children aged 3;6 to 5;11 years productive vocabulary knowledge, morpho-syntactical language skills, and the functional capacity of phonological working memory were assessed. Substantial correlational relationships were found between working memory capacity and the language facets among the 4-years-old as well as the 5-years-old children. Age differences in productive language skills remained significant even when working memory capacity was partialized out. On the contrary, age differences in phonological working memory capacity were eliminated when morpho-syntactical language skills were controled for. The results are discussed with regard to the role of working memory in language development.
