Mentalisieren als schützende Ressource bei angehenden Erzieherinnen und Erziehern

Abstract

Zusammenfassung. Unter Verweis auf das hohe Belastungserleben von angehenden Erzieherinnen und Erziehern untersuchte die vorliegende Studie die potentiell schützende Funktion der Mentalisierungsfähigkeit an 264 Auszubildenden. Es zeigte sich, dass die Mentalisierungsfähigkeit nicht nur positiv mit dem Wohlbefinden der Stichprobe assoziiert war, sondern dass diese einen zum Stress- und Beschwerdeerleben gegenläufigen, förderlichen Effekt auf das Wohlbefinden verübte. Überdies wurde der Einfluss der Gesamtbelastung auf das Wohlbefinden über die Mentalisierungsfähigkeit partiell vermittelt. Die Daten zeigten, dass die Fähigkeit der Auszubildenden, eigenes und fremdes Verhalten auf Basis mentaler Zustände wahrzunehmen, deren Wohlbefinden förderlich beeinflusst.


Mentalizing as Protective Resource Among Teaching Trainees

Abstract. With reference to the high stress level experienced by educators in training, the present cross-sectional study examined whether mentalizing exerts a protective function, using data from 264 trainees. Analyses showed that mentalizing is positively associated with well-being, but also that it has a positive effect on well-being that counteracts stress experiences. Moreover, the effect of stress experiences on well-being was partially mediated by mentalizing. The data indicate that the trainees‘ capacity to perceive their own behavior and behavior of other persons based on mental states has a beneficial effect on their well-being.
