Low Back Pain – von der Arbeitsunfähigkeit zur Invalidität

Unspezifische Rückenschmerzen (LBP) sind so häufig, dass sie als normale Befindlichkeitsstörung angesehen werden können. Sie werden als medizinisches Problem behandelt, obwohl sie sich – vor allem was ihre Folgen anbelangt – weitgehend auf dem sozioökonomisch und kulturellen Territorium abspielen. Sie sind ein Paradebeispiel einer Medikalisierung gesellschaftlicher Probleme, womit falsche Antworten auf dringende Fragen generiert werden.

Nonspecific low back pain is a common human condition and is poorly explained by physical and radiologic findings. Chronification is mainly related to socioeconomic and cultural factors. The insistance on a medical paradigm for explanation and treatment leads to a medicalisation of social conditions and generates wrong answers to real problems.
