Nutzung von Online-Bewerbungen aus Sicht von Bewerbern und Unternehmen
Abstract
Abstract. Application documents may be prepared in a classic paper version and sent via surface mail (offline application) or application documents may be handed in via e-mail or using an internet form (online application). Two studies explored German companies’ experiences with online job applications as well as key aspects of candidate behavior. An interview study with N = 63 companies investigated key aspects of online applications in practice. In addition to an identification of typical flaws in online applications, factors leading to online (vs. offline) applications were analyzed. Based on these field results, an online experiment was conducted (N = 518 potential candidates). Applicant characteristics (internet self-efficacy, experiences), company criteria (size, level of supposed ”modernity”), and the status of the announced position had an impact on the choice between applying online and applying offline.
