Effekte des Trainings mit sozial unsicheren Kindern
Abstract
The present study evaluates the effectiveness of a cognitive-behavioral training program for children with social anxiety, called “Training mit sozial unsicheren Kindern” (Petermann & Petermann, 2006). The effectiveness of the training was assessed with a pretest-posttest control group design. Nineteen children (10 girls, 9 boys) with social anxiety aged 7 to 12 years were assigned to treatment (n = 10) or control groups (n = 9). To examine the effectiveness of the training, both parentsʼ (non-self-report) and childrenʼs (self-report) assessments of symptoms of social anxiety were considered. Data collection was conducted before and after treatment. The results indicate that the training produced a significant reduction in symptoms of social anxiety in the treatment group compared to the control group.
