Klinische Validität der K-CAB bei Kindern mit ADHS
Abstract
This study examined the utility of the PASS theory of intelligence (Planning, Attention, Simultaneous, Successive) as measured by the K-CAB for evaluation of children with ADHD. The K-CAB scores of 28 German children with ADHD, aged 6.5 to 11.0 years, were compared to the scores of a group of 28 age- and gender-matched healthy controls. The findings showed that children with ADHD demonstrated relatively low scores on the Attention scale of the K-CAB, but average scores on the Planning, Simultaneous and Successive scales. In three out of four attentional parameters the ADHD-children showed significantly lower results as the controls. Generally the ADHD-children made more errors of omission and had more variable and slower reaction times. The analysis of the discriminant power of the test battery showed that 80.4% of the children could be classified correctly by the attentional measures. In conclusion the diagnostic classification of children with ADHD cannot be solely based on a neuropsychological test battery like the K-CAB, but the test may provide useful information on individual performance profiles and improve the clinical assessment of ADHD-children.
