Inanspruchnahme von ärztlichen und psychotherapeutischen Leistungen durch Kinder und Jugendliche mit psychischen Auffälligkeiten

Ergebnisse der BELLA-Studie

Abstract

Zur psychiatrisch-psychotherapeutischen Inanspruchnahme durch Kinder und Jugendliche in Deutschland liegen bislang kaum Ergebnisse vor. Anhand von repräsentativen Daten der BELLA-Studie, an der insgesamt 2.863 Familien teilnahmen, konnte gezeigt werden, dass 5,6 % der Befragten im Alter von 7 bis 17 Jahren in den letzten 12 Monaten eine psychiatrisch-psychotherapeutische Leistung in Anspruch genommen haben. Von den mit Hilfe des Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ) als psychisch auffällig eingestuften Kindern und Jugendlichen sind 28,8 % in psychiatrisch-psychotherapeutischer Behandlung. Hinzu kommt, dass lediglich ein Fünftel der Mädchen und Jungen, die an Einschränkungen aufgrund der psychischen Auffälligkeiten leiden, eine entsprechende Hilfe annehmen.


Medical and psychotherapeutic health care utilization of children and adolescents with mental health problems: Results of the BELLA Study

To date, data on psychiatric/psychotherapeutic health care utilization of children and adolescents in Germany is scarce. Analyzing the representative data from the BELLA study with a total of 2,863 participating families, it was found that 5.6 % of all participants aged 7 – 17 years sought professional psychiatric/psychotherapeutic care within the last 12 months. Of those with mental health problems, identified by the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (SDQ), 28.8 % received care. Only one-fifth of the boys and girls reporting impairment due to mental health problems received psychiatric or psychotherapeutic treatment.
